Auditions – DBI Longform Improv

Oct 4th
7:30pm to 9:30pm

Death By Improv will be holding auditions for a limited run, long form improv project. Mike Farley of DBI will be directing the classic improv format, The Harold. Prior improv experience is required. Long Form improv experience helpful, but not required.

For those unfamiliar, DBI normally plays game-based short form improv, where we get a suggestions from the audience every few minutes throughout the show. But the Harold is different. It is a longer format improv structure where one idea inspires a series of scenes that build on themes and patterns discovered as they emerge and evolve. Created by Del Close at the Improv Olympic in Chicago, for decades The Harold structure has been the backbone of improv communities around the country.

FarleyMike Farley, member of Death By Improv, and former member of another local improv group of years long gone, Grandma’s Favorite, studied the Harold at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade in NYC. Mike also trained and played with Improv Underground in Montclair, National Comedy Theater NYC and The Second City NYC.

Once the team is cast, Mike will work with players weekly (Thursdays 7:30 to 9:30) to learn the Harold, and prepare for 2 performances, December 15th and a TBD date in January.

Auditions, Rehearsals, and Performances will all take place at Main Street Theater Company at Garden Friends Learning Center. 3018 Bordentown Ave, Parlin, NJ.

No registration is required to audition. But we do ask that all those auditioning arrive a few minutes early to sign in, and be ready to warm up at 7:30. No need to prepare any anything ahead of time, just come prepared to play.
