The Troupe – Michael Hochman

Michael is  a co-founder, co-director, and instructor with Death By Improv (since 2005). Michael is also currently a member of Philly Improv Theater House Team Mayor Karen (since 2010), and instructor with the PHIT training center. Michael has played in many cities, on many stages, at festivals with Death By Improv and/or Mayor Karen. These include The Chicago Improv Festival, The Del Close Marathon, The New York City Improv Festival, The North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival, The Richmond Improv Festival, The Gainesville Improv Festival, and The Baltimore Improv Festival.

Michael has had the opportunity to study under an array of great teachers over the last decade or so. In Philly, he has studied under Alexis Simpson, Amie Roe, and Kristen Schier; and has performed under the talented direction of Nathan Edmondson, Jason Grimley, Steve Kleinedler, and Emily Davis. He has also studied in NYC at the Magnet Theater with Armando Diaz and James Eason. In addition to that, Michael has workshopped with some of the best improvisers from around the country, such as Jill Bernard, Mark Sutton, Joe Bill, Asaf Ronen, Zach Ward, Topher Bellavio, Rick Andrews, Johnathan Pitts, Tara DeFrancisco, Kevin Mullaney, and Kevin Patrick Robbins. And it all started as an audience member and student of Improv Jam, in Red Bank, NJ, with Pete Capella and Mike O’Keefe.
